CHURCH COVENANT
We do solemnly covenant together, God helping us, that we will as strangers and pilgrims in the world, abstain from sinful desires that war against the soul. I Peter 2:11
That we will put away from us all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ has forgiven us. Ephesians 4:31, 32
That we will, as we have opportunity, do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10
That we will contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all entrusted to the saints. Jude 3
That we will bring our children up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4
That we will not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing; will keep the ordinances that were delivered to us; will confess our sins to each other, and pray for each other. Hebrews 10:25, I Corinthians 11:2, James 5:16
That we will give generously as God has prospered us; not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. II Corinthians 9:7
That we will let our thoughts dwell on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, for this is excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8
That we will work at the things we do with all our hearts, as working for the Lord not for men; knowing that working we will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward; for it is the Lord Christ that we serve. Colossians 3:23, 24
That we will, relying upon the graces of God, endeavor to make our walk conform to this covenant; and not to it alone, but to all of God’s revealed will for holy living and service. |
